Directions:
- In a blender, puree the can of tomatoes until smooth. Set aside.
- Line a sauce pan with olive oil (figure a few Tbsps. worth)
- Add crushed fresh garlic and cut basil and heat up on high.

- As the basil, garlic, and oil begin to sizzle add the pureed tomatoes
- Stir and cook on high uncovered until just a boil.
- In the meantime, boil water in a separate pot (enough for 1lb of pasta).
- Once the sauce is boiling, turn heat to LOW and cover it. Stir occasionally.
- Once water is boiling, add pasta and follow box instructions to time how thorough you want the end result of your pasta to be.
- Drain pasta, return to the pot or large serving bowl
- Immediately add a ladle or 2 of the sauce and stir/mix/toss (whatever you call it)
- To serve, add pasta to the plate, spoon a bit of more sauce on top and sprinkle with your favorite Italian cheese.
- Enjoy with a salad and a nice glass of wine.

Tips:
- If you need more marinara sauce, simply follow the above direction but instead of 1 large can only, also use a smaller 14.9 oz can of sauce or diced tomatoes. This will give you more sauce that will go great on leftovers or additions to other recipes you may make during the week.
- Although this recipe is best fresh, if you doubled or tripled the recipe, you can freeze the cooked sauce on its own for up to 3 months without it losing flavor. * Then you just reheat it in a pot while cooking up fresh pasta, and dinner will be ready in 15 minutes or less depending on how you like your pasta cooked. * Freeze in 1 use batches (Ex., 1 can of sauce per container that you’re freezing).
- Add a dab of butter to the plate before serving for a unique flavor
- Make smaller pasta varieties for the little ones: elbows and shells are good choices for toddlers, but really anything they can eat with a spoon
- Use Romano or Pecorino verses plain Parmesan cheese; although any Italian cheese variety is good, certain cheeses bring out the delicious flavor of the sauce
- I can’t stress this enough, if you burn the garlic in step 4, throw it out and start again. Depending on how quickly your stove top heats up, will determine the right time. You want the garlic and basil to sizzle for a few seconds before you pour in the sauce.
- Dogs LOVE pasta water! Before draining the pasta, spoon out a few tablespoons and set aside to cool. Add it to your dog’s meal for a special treat.
- If you are reheating leftovers and have access to a stove top, fry up in a pan. Simply line the pan with a little olive oil (enough to cover the bottom) and heat up pasta and marinara sauce together.
I hope you love this recipe as much as I do.
