Self-love requires cultivating inner peace, confidence, and resilience. These ingredients are necessary for growth. Intentional reflection and forgiveness are also necessary components to this journey.

Reflection and Self-Awareness: The Path to Inner Peace

If you want to become self aware, you need to be able to reflect honestly. Recognizing your strengths and identifying where you need healing will give you clarity about your emotions and your behaviors. This practice can be done by journaling and/or meditating.

Journaling for Healing

Writing helps process what is happening within and around you. Being honest and transparent with your thoughts will help in your healing journey. Sometimes in this reflection, you realize where you are and where you want to go; other times you may find you are working through something and that allows you to move forward from whats been holding you back. Journaling is reflecting which heals and makes this clear.

Cultivate Inner Peace Through Meditation

Sitting quietly with your thoughts is another way to do some honest reflecting. Meditation is very personal. There isn’t any one way to do it. It’s about what works for you in getting to a quiet reflective state. Find what resonates and go with it. More on this in an another post.

using both journaling and meditation helps make sense of things. I don’t always feel the need to journal after I meditate; but journaling helps me to center and concentrate on the most pressing things that are concerning me at the moment.

*sometimes just recognizing these feelings is enough to help you move on from them*

Reflecting

It is ok if you are thinking about everything else that is going on around you. You are thinking about these things for a reason and processing those thoughts will allow you to move past them to get back to your true purpose, understanding yourself.

The Power of Forgiveness in Self-Healing

It is impossible to experience inner peace without forgiveness. Allowing yourself grace through the steps of forgiveness is necessary in acquiring self love. Holding on to feelings of resentment, guilt, and shame only keep a negative cycle in place. Forgiveness is not about excusing the behavior but rather about releasing the hold the behavior has on us. 

Creating and sustaining Inner peace is a lifelong journey.
