Eggnog, The Ultimate Holiday Drink

Looking for a festive pick me up this holiday season? If there were ever a drink that embodied the holiday season, it would be this eggnog recipe!

What makes it so good?

This is not for children. In fact, anyone drinking this eggnog should take caution. It’s deliciously creamy, and full of liquor. Lighten the mood with some festive fun, or to take the edge off holiday anxiety with this delicious eggnog recipe.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  • A large bowl
  • ½ gallon egg nog
  • 1 cup each of the following: brandy, rum, and whiskey
  • ½ gallon Vanilla Ice cream
  • nutmeg (you’ll only need a sprinkle)
  • 1 can ginger ale
  • red and green sugar sprinkles *optional but this adds a festive touch

Directions:

  • First, mix the following in a large bowl: eggnog, rum, brandy, whiskey
  • Add big scoops of vanilla ice cream and let them float on top
  • Pour ginger ale slowly around the edge of the bowl- about 1/2 a can
  • Sprinkle about 1/2 a pinch of nutmeg on top – a little goes a long way
  • Dust the top with the sprinkles
  • Finally, put in the freezer to get a crystallized crust

Family Tradition

This recipe has been in the family for decades. It was created by a WWII Air-force hero in an effort to lift the spirits of his fellow airmen. The recipe is now shared by his family with friends during the holidays. Light that fire, kick up those feet, and enjoy a drink that encompasses all that is the holiday season.
