
This recipe is great for many reasons. For one, Pulled Pork with Apricot Preserves is great to make any time of year. Second, its low maintenance; after its cooked, serve it up on a bun with some chips or fries, a salad, and a pickle. Thirdly, Apricot Pulled Pork Sandwiches are very easy to make and they make your house smell delicious!
Get Started
- 1 jar of Apricot preserves
- 1 large onion – chopped fine
- A boneless pork shoulder – aka pork butt (3 pounds)
- 1/2 cup of broth or water (your choice of broth to use, you just need a small amount of liquid)
- Season with Salt & Pepper
- Sliced buns (hamburger or a hearty roll will do)
- Large Slow Cooker – (Crockpot)
Cook it up
- Use cooking spray to spray the slow cooker.
- Mix together chopped onion and preserves
- Pour broth or water into the pot, just enough to line the bottom, about 1/2 a cup
- Put in pork shoulder
- Put preserves and onion mixture on top of the meat – cover all sides
- *optional Salt and pepper to taste
- Cook covered on low heat for 8-10 hours
- Remove pork from the slow cooker pot and set on cutting board
- Skim the fat from the cooking juice
- Shred pork with 2 forks and return it to the slow cooker and juices
- Serve on buns or rolls

Other variations
Although Pulled Pork with Apricot Preserves Sandwiches are delicious on their own, adding it to a bun or roll helps to savor the liquid. If Apricot isn’t a flavor you like, you can use this same recipe using another flavored preserve. Pineapple will add a tropical taste to the dish. Mango also compliments the flavor of the pork well. These flavors would work great together for an outdoor barbeque.
